AJRAKH

Ajrakh printing is a distinguished form of woodblock printing that originated in the present-day province of Sindh, Pakistan and Neighbouring Indian districts of Kutch in Gujarat and Barmer in Rajasthan. The term ‘Ajrak’ is derived from the Arabic word ‘Azrak’ which means ‘Indigo’ or ‘Blue’. Ajrakh is believed to have the universe, or sky as its theme. Blue symbolizes the sky, red symbolizes twilight and night is indicated by black.
