About Bagh Print
Bagh Block print is a traditional hand block printing craft that originates from Bagh village in Madhya Pradesh. The process involves hand-carved wooden blocks that are printed on cotton or silk fabrics. Before printing, the fabric undergoes extensive washing and treatment, which enhances dye absorption and color richness. Natural dyes made from plants, roots, and minerals are used, primarily producing deep red, black, and off-white shades. Traditional motifs include geometric patterns, floral forms, and inspired elements from Mughal architecture. The themes reflect symmetry, balance, and harmony. Each piece requires multiple stages of printing and dyeing. Bagh prints are known for their sharp detailing and earthy elegance. The craft is traditionally used for garments, dupattas, and home textiles.
